Debuted at the 2019 Race of Champions After Party, our Board Members Walter "Kango Slimm" Williams of Partners N Crime, and Cooper Manning, teamed up to create "NORD Pride"!
Ernest Gethers has demonstrated a selfless commitment to New Orleans youth as a NORD Coach for over 30 years. He balances both his passion for coaching and mentoring youth to his undying commitment to the City of New Orleans as an employee of the economic development department. His pride in his teams is never selfish, he'd never tell you that more than once, he’s had grown men stop him in the street and say “Coach, did you know you saved my life?”
See why Coach Ernest is our 2019 Unsung Hero!
Thank you to those who made the Race of Champions so much fun! Please enjoy these video compilations of the day's events!
The NORD Foundation's Race of Champions is not your typical fundraiser. It is a fun-filled day with team building activities and family-friendly competition!
The goal of the Race of Champions is not only to raise money for the NORD Foundation but to raise awareness about the Foundation and all the incredible things the New Orleans Recreation Department has to offer!
The Race Of Champions is a lively race against the clock with five of your most athletic, artistic, and all-around skillful friends! Your team of six will complete several challenges across seven different NORD Facilities. Each challenge will be timed from start to finish; however, your travel time will not be included, making this race solely about the team building challenges at hand.
Once every team has finished all of the challenges, the map will lead you back to the starting point of Milne Recreation Center. The winner of this race is not determined by who crosses the finish line first, but who has the least amount of time recorded for all of the challenges once they reach the finish line.
The Race of Champions after-party will be held at Milne Recreation Center from 2pm - 5pm. This will be a party with music, food, and celebration of a job well done for all the teams! The first-place team will be given the grand prize and the official Race of Champions trophy that will be theirs to keep until it is passed along to next year's winning team.
*Fans will be asked to raise an additional $800 for their team.
*Individual Teams will be asked to raise an additional $400 for their team.
